We have lots of different ways for students to get involved in research here at LTU. And so they may be involved when they complete their senior capstone project. They may work with a faculty member on an independent project, they may do a quest project. We have lots of opportunities for them to kind of present their research.
We have a project at CIMR, which is the Center for Innovative Material Research to develop lightweight, stronger material like carbon fiber for infrastructure. And that's fully funded by the federal government. So if you are a student and you're interested to get funding for your project, there is an application that will go to the president's office and you can get up to $1,000 for that specific project. In the biomedical engineering would be have projects going on for aging. We have also some projects going on right now in mechanical engineering from GM from Chrysler from Denso. And that relates to automotive applications.
Many of our faculty in the College of Architecture Design are professionals within their field. And I've taken students abroad including Bolivia, Romania, India, and currently South Africa, where I've taken LTU students and alumni, and we've worked with the people of South Africa, communities and residents there to use scavenged materials to begin to generate architecture.
